Great place to stay when the weather is warm.
Positive: The cottage is adorable. The gardens were lovely and well maintained. It was easy to navigate the area from this location, and it's great for a quiet stay. The town of Burra offers a great mining region tour for a very reasonable price. We loved that the people of Burra are proud of their town and its history and enjoy sharing it with tourists.
Negative: The lack of heat in half of the house. This house has 3 bedrooms, a parlor, a living room/ dining room, a kitchen, and a bathroom. The 2-system heater is located in the parlor, which is next to a bedroom with 2 twin beds that also has a wall heater. The Living room/dining room has a wood-burning fireplace. All of these rooms make up 1/2 of the house. The other half of the house was comprised of the kitchen, 2 bedrooms-each with queen-sized beds, and the bathroom. There was no heat in this half of the house. We turned up the heat in the heated half and then set up oscillating fans in a daisy chain fashion to move the heat into the unheated half of the house. After 3 days, the kitchen became tolerable. The only way we were able to sleep in the bedrooms was to turn up the heated mattress covers to high and stay buried under the blankets each night. We were also told that if we ran out of wood, it was $20 for another bin. Luckily, we went sightseeing during the day, because if we had stayed in and kept the fire going to stay warm, we would have run out of wood. This could have all been solved with a few portable electric heaters.

Cosy, comfortable, private, suitable for our needs.
Negative: Directions for entry to the property needed e.g. ‘drive into the parking space to the left of the garage and enter through the back gate.’ We weren’t sure how to get to the front door and had to poke around for a bit.

This property was exceptionally clean including all crockery and cutlery. It had the charm of a heritage building combined with the basic elements to make our stay a pleasant one. One bathroom with toilet within may be a consideration for some. The grounds are lovely with a great bbq entertaining area that would be excellent in the warmer months.
